چکیده

A beam diagnostic made of a double sheet sensor is designed to the search of ions, emitted by an electronphoton conversion target under the impact of an intense relativistic electron beam. This device is tested on the PIVAIR prototype accelerator. Signals attributed to ions emitted from the target are observed for different target elements : Ta, C, Ti, Au and light species are identified by their time of flight. The mean velocities of C+ and H+ ions are found to be respectively equal to 1.2 108 cm/s and 5 108 cm/s for C and Ta targets. The ionic appearance and rise time signals are closed to the expected values. Besides, the current signals are characterized by a plateau to which level corresponds to the Child-Langmuir current (25 A for H+ ions). Furthermore, the fall-off of this signal is found to be in synchronism with the electron beam one. This behaviour represents the deconfinement of the ion beam under the effect of its own space charge. These experimental results confirm the preliminary calculations obtained with the M2V Maxwell-Vlasov PIC code which has been coupled with a ionic emission model.

Improvement of diagnostic accuracy of Parkinson's disease on I-123-ioflupane single photon emission computed tomography (123I FP-CIT SPECT) using new Japanese normal database

Objective(s): I-123-ioflupane single photon emission computed tomography (FP-CIT-SPECT) has been used to assess dopamine transporter (DAT) loss in Parkinson's disease. The specific binding ratio (SBR), a quantitative parameter of DAT density in the striatum, may be affected by differences in age, sex, and SPECT system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the util...

Dosimetric Evaluation of Target Volume in Breast Boost Radiotherapy: Comparison of Electron and Photon Beam

Background and purpose: Breast‑conserving surgery followed by radiation therapy to the whole breast is now recognized as a standard strategy in patients with breast cancer. Recommended technique for radiotherapy is whole breast irradiation followed by boost to the tumor bed. This study aimed to compare the dosimetric parameters of electron and photon beams for boosting irradiation in post‑lump...

A Monte Carlo Simulation of Photon Beam Generated by a Linear Accelerator

ntroduction:  Monte  Carlo  simulation  is  the  most  accurate  method  of  simulating  radiation  transport  and  predicting doses at different points of interest in radiotherapy. A great advantage of the Monte Carlo method  compared  to  the  deterministic  methods  is  the  ability  to  deal  accurately  with  any  complex  geometry.  Its  disadvantage is the extremely long computing time r...

Monte carlo simulation of varian clinac iX 10 MV photon beam for small field dosimetry

Background: The lack of lateral electronic disequilibrium (LED) becomes a main problem in small field. This factor affects the dose in target volume cannot predict correctly. In addition, utilization of high-energy linear accelerator (10 MV) can emit some unwanted particles (electron contamination). Therefore, the aim of this study was to characterize head linear accelerator (linac) Varian Clin...
